Teresa Stern was born in Waco, Texas, the youngest of four children. She proudly graduated from the University of Mary Harden-Baylor (Belton, Texas) with a degree in professional studies, and since 2002 has worked for the nonprofit organization Valley Association for Independent Living (VAIL), which helps people with disabilities.
